After all, the reader is not likely to feel sorry for a bunch of bored "degenerates" who go on crime sprees just to keep themselves entertained. This is a collection of 4-8 page shorts, some linked, featuring Judge Dredd, lawman of the post-apocalyptic future.

Dredd is a law enforcement officer in the futuristic North American Mega-City 1, empowered to pass death sentences or jail terms on the job. Co-creator of both Judge Anderson and The Kleggs, Bolland's highly detailed style unfortunately precluded him from doing many sequential strips -- although he found the time to pencil both Camelot 3000 and Batman: The Killing Joke for DC Comics. Written by comic supremos John Wagner (A History of Violence) and Alan Grant (Batman) with art by Carlos Ezquerra (Strontium Dog) and Steve Dillon (Preacher) amongst others, this is classic 2000 AD!Written by John Wagner ( A History of Violence) and drawn by a host of acclaimed artists including Kev Walker ( The Eternals), Cam Kennedy ( Star Wars), and Carlos Ezquerra ( Preacher), this is Judge Dredd at his pulse-pounding best! Written by comic legends John Wagner (A History of Violence) and Alan Grant (Batman), with art by Carlos Ezquerra (Preacher), Brian Bolland (The Killing Joke) and Mick McMahon (The Last American) and many more! His creations include Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Ace Trucking, Al’s Baby, Button Man and Mean Machine. Stan Lee, Larry Ivie, Larry Lieber, Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, Harlan Ellison, Roger Stern, Steve Englehart, Steve Gerber, Chris Claremont, Jim Starlin, Gerry Conway, Dann Thomas, Len Kaminski, Tom DeFalco, Kurt Busiek, Tony Isabella, James Robinson, Jim Shooter, Bill Mantlo, Scott Edelman, Len Wein, David Michelinie, Mark Gruenwald, Steven Grant, Roger Slifer, John Byrne, Ann Nocenti, Danny Fingeroth, Bob Harras, Ralph Macchio, Walt Simonson, Fabian Nicieza, Larry Hama, Brian Michael Bendis, Scott Lobdell, Various, Glenn Herdling, Terry Kavanagh, George Perez, Mark Evanier, Bob Layton, Bob Budiansky, J. That plot concept results in some well written culture clash humour, more overt satire of then-contemporary politics in particular the Cold War, as well as the type of spaghetti western pastiche that'd later become a hallmark of Judge Dredd whenever the stories go into the Cursed Earth or into the outer space colonies.

Great compilation of stories that takes you back to the original 200AD comic books and one of the classic characters from it. It can’t quite agree on what its tone is meant to be: bleakly dystopian, blackly humorous, over-the-top ridiculous, excitingly action-filled, or surrealist. Midway through the book Dredd is sent to Lunar-1, the moon, as the new Marshall, and the rest of the book takes place there which was a little disappointing as such little time was spent in MegaCity 1 for this book.

This is the first of the Judge Dredd case files and an interesting look at how Joe Dredd and Megacity One was conceived and developed in the beginning. However, even the lesser strips have some value like a deranged game show where your life is on the line.

With over half a million copies sold and featuring the best British comics talent of the 21st century, The Complete Case Files is the comprehensive collection of Judge Dredd, the lawman of the future! Judge Dredd, Mega-City One’s toughest law enforcer, is back on the streets in this collection of explosive cases. A fantastic idea from 2000AD, the Complete Case Files reprint every Dredd story that appeared in the comic. Overall, continues to be scrappy, but with real acorns which grown into amazing story arcs such as the Cursed Earth, the Apocalypse War and many others. Craig Russell, Arvell Jones, Keith Pollard, Chic Stone, Sal Buscema, Jeff Aclin, Carmine Infantino, John Romita, Keith Giffen, Johnny Craig, John Romita Jr.Steve Gerber, Bill Mantlo, Len Wein, Mike Friedrich, Chris Claremont, Roger Slifer, Marv Wolfman, Scott Edelman, Tony Isabella, Roy Thomas, Jim Shooter, Various, Mark Gruenwald, Ralph Macchio, Jo Duffy, John Byrne, Peter B. The clarity of the reprint in these editions isn't always ideal, but they look great on the shelf and it's better than having to track down thousands of weekly back issues. He has written twenty-five novels for the Black Library, including the acclaimed Gaunt's Ghosts series and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies, and with Mike Lee, the Darkblade cycle.

Currently Mills is writing the best-selling series Requiem -- Vampire Knight for Editions Nickel of France with artist Olivier Ledroit, and a spin-off series, Claudia -- Vampire Knight, with artist Frank Tacito.Gibson particularly enjoys the robots and it’s unsurprising that Tharg moved him to Robo Hunter where his ridiculous and hilarious imagination at dumb robots could take flight; Bolland must have been a revelation with those clear lines and use of chunky blacks and it’s fascinating to see that he’s the one who streamlines the helmet into the familiar one we have today. In the collections I've read so far I haven't gone back this early, and have paid particular note to how "American" the MegaCity culture is so this was surprising. Andrew Wildman, Travis Charest, Kevin Maguire, Tom Raney, Gary Frank, Paul Pelletier, Roger Cruz, Salvador Larroca, Stuart Immonen, George Perez, John Estes, Jim Craig, Darick Robertson, Mike Deodato, Ian Churchill, Marvel Comics, Peter B Gillis, Elliot S! The notion that widespread wealth spells disaster is a bit silly, though (unless you happen to be a member of the Tea Party), and the fictional world of Judge Dredd generally feels rather half-baked at this early stage.
