In the Community Tab and in fact in the comments below my original video you’ll find a wealth of recommendations from everyone on the systems that work for them. Is there some sort of online idiot guide anywhere, something that treats you like a child in explaining how this f king thing works?

You don't want to turn the heating off in any room during the day or overnight but rather lower the scheduled setpoint temperature. With the heating off you can’t change the temperature on the hub, but once you’ve switched the heating on, you have room by room control on the hub, as you do if you turn the heating on by voice control . But also, it is useful for those in the family that don’t have access to the app, and for area where radiator temperature is not accurate due to bad air circulation.

Building on the iconic design of the Drayton TRV4, the Wiser Radiator Thermostat maintains the simplistic style and builds on years of success as a leading TRV manufacturer with a host of additional features. There’s a third function for smart plugs that few know about at the moment, and that’s energy monitoring through Insights + - more on which in a minute. You have up six periods per day for each zone, so make good use of those to manage the expected temp across the day or night.

I want to control the heating of upstairs bedrooms independently of downstairs, and so when I saw the Drayton Wiser Smart TRV I thought I had found a solution and bought a bunch of them. Hallway rad should also keep it's conventional valves, it's possible it is set up as a bypass heat sink.If a radiator has a dumb TRV the only "control" is when it senses its local temp is meet and then closes. We have 3 bedroom radiators, 1 study, 1 kitchen/diner/, 1 living room, 2 x bathrooms (both towel rads), and 1 in the hallway. With the Drayton thermostat system, the basic kit comes with a room thermostat, whilst the next kit up comes with additional radiator thermostats. It was hoped it would become industry standard with all the boiler manufacturers subscribing, but sadly they haven’t, and in a bid to tie us into their system with extended warranties and the like if you adopt their controls they’ve developed their own versions of it e. Restricting what the boiler does too much can have an inverse effect on boiler efficiency and how the boiler operates.

Conversely, the main "home" wireless stat is currently set at 19 degrees but indicating an actual temp of 14 degrees, yet the heating doesn't come on.but now I am thinking- if tell the bedroom to heat up 9-11pm, and the living room 5-10pm etc- will this just mean the boiler is on from 5-11pm? In general, somewhat disappointed with the control characteristics of the system, can only describe the radiator stat's action as "on/off" control, can not see any attempt at achieving "proportional" action as was quite normal with the old dumb TRV's they are replacing, radiators are either piping hot or off, no modulated "in between" point. The sound of them wurring around the house when the heating comes on is almost imperceptible and I actually rather like it as it shows the system is up and running.
